Merry Christmas x Happy Holidays

2009, 2009....2009! I learnt about myself and others more than any other year! Made goals a reality, and stepping stone towards the future and have come to the conclusion that certain experiences were never a mistake, just a lesson.
And so, as we journey on in our lives onto a new decade, I look forward to 2010.
This mental spider diagram full of projects, ventures and so forth which appear in my dreams nightly will make so much more sense. If I allow it.
I shall be moving pretty darn fast! I can assure you.

This will probably be the last post of the year...so I want to thank those who regularly visit, or who have ever visited. I may not update as much as I should, but I'm going to let 2010 be the answer to why that be the case! Promise.

So whatever you do. And whoever you're doing it with, enjoy the holidays!! And have a Happy New Year!

Love to the important ones in my life, always!

Team ISayOsei!

p.s: And now, to play us out, my favourite christmas number of all time.

Justice x Lenny Kravitz "Let Love Rule"

The. Best. video I have seen this year....conceptually anyway. The crazy thing is, just when you think the first 1.30s screams originality and freshness, it gets even more dope and humorous!

I Say Osei 2009 Anthems [CD 1]

Whether Old or new. Dug outta the crate classics or new found gems. These are just a few that made it in the '09 for me.

Today is the official countdown to Feliz Navidad. Lights Up! Hands Down. Represent That.

Exile - We're All In Power

I would give my right leg to see him and DJ Day live. If you have never experienced the genius of this fellow - Below The Heavens by Blu (prod. by Exile) - is all that needs to be said.

This song used 100% AM/FM samples, so not only is recycling - something which affects our society - strongly considered with the use of the song, but the video is stop animation. Who out here is not a fan of that?!
Treat no.2 - The podcast mix Exile done for Plug Research gives u an idea of what he's about. I usually listen to this about 2-3 times a day. Just to let you know what level you should be on.

Kanye West/Spike Jonze Mini Movie

We Were Once a Fairytale (dir. Spike Jonze)

When I first heard of this all those months ago, I was doing my fair share of "Hmmmm"-ing for the majority of us.

When I heard of the synopsis (In particular, the end) I said "Really?
Then, when I heard of all the critical acclaim x positive responses from respected publications we all know and love, I said "REEEAALLLY??" - just like that.

But oh my. This is pure amazement. And very inspiring. In a NUTSHELL this video "takes what people like and hate about Kanye's personna and pushes it to the limit. It walks the fine line between self aggrandizement and self mockery".
I've a new found level of respect for Kanye West. We already know what the boy Jonze can do! (If you not know otherwise).
FullScreen x Headphones is recommended, but not necessary.

Calvin Harris - Flashback

Couldnt Agree More. Midas Touch? It must be a Calvin thing eh! Even though it isn’t his real name, he knew what he was thinking when he picked it! *Winks x cocky smirk whilst typing*
Best track on album.

What We Do!

Whilst the sun shines in as I write this, listening to Lambchop/Up With The People - real sunrise sounding music, if there were any - I sit and think:
"Man, why can't life always be this easy?" (
© Kanye West).
But anyway...
(In the voice of a mixtape DJ. Echo and all...) As we continue on! Exxxclusive!!
So for those that know...or who check the links on the right, and have seen a certain link for an OH SO basic Myspace page entitled "Hi Def! Podcast Show", I've been in the midst of creating a podcast project. It's going to be like nothing heard before. And I'm not just saying that. It really will be. Well now theres finally been further motion.
www.hidefshow.com is the site. And it will be fully launched soon. As time goes on, I will give further info, as I refuse to divulge in the whole business plan at this time!
But these are exciting times. Just thought I'd keep you posted. Blog Posted! No, the pun may not be excused!
Have a good weekend...

It's a sign!

Upon, visiting my blog on this fine friday afternoon, I typed in the url - you know, just to have a look at my beauty of a blog no douuuubt!
Low and behold, I made a typing error: http://isayosei.blogpsot.com/ Only to see this?
Oh my.
I aint checked if it affects all .blogspots sites, when entered incorrectly. And if it does, how does it or do they have the power to do that?
So many answers, and no questions.
So I guess the Lord does work in mysterious ways. Mysterious and url jacking ways.

Pure. Genius x Goosebumps Music + So Me Right Now!

In search of victory, she keeps saluting me.
If only we could be together momentarily.
We could make love. And make history.
Why won`t you visit me?
Until she visits me, I`ll be stuck with a sister, her name is defeat.
She gives me agony, so much agony.
She brings me so much pain.
So much misery, like missing your last shot, and falling to your knees.
As the crowd screams, for the other team.
I practice so hard for this moment victory don`t lead.
I know what this means, I`m stuck in this routine.
Whole new different day. The same old things.
All I got is dreams, but nobody else could see.
Nobody else believes, nobody else but me
.
Where are you victory? I need you desperately.
Not just for the moment. To make history.

Ghana In Fog.

...by Paul Octavious. I'll leave it for him to explain:

"On a beautiful day in Chicago as I walked through the park, this insane fog rolled in! A soccer
game started on one of the fields I was walking by. I photographed and took video of this
experience. Later on after taking the video, I learned that the team was the Ghana World Cup
Team! Amazing and random all at the same time ."
The Photos are just as good. <-----Click!

Mercury Music Awards 2009

I couldn't call it!
The 2009 Mercury Music Prize (brought to you by Barclaycard which, by law I'm sure, I have to mention) was close. As usual. But I usually pick the winner from my 1 or 2 choices.
I had my money on Bat For Lashes, fortunately, not literally. Being nominated last year, I thought she'd do an Elbow and win it 2nd time round. But this is an award show of dark horses and unpredicted events occurring.
I've been a fan of that Friendly Fires album from day dot one. But let's be honest they were never gonna win it. A FEW of the others are a bunch of artists who just picked a right time to realease their same old sounding LP, or something liked by the people, with a lame twist. I love the music industry.

CONGRATS!!! To Speech Debelle!! I can't lie, I havent heard much of her music. But I've been reading many a gig (p)review or interview in a national publication or two, and have been meaning to see what all the buzz is for. When these Guardian Guides and Time Out's begin to talk about "urban" artists. It's always their kind of urban - friendly to their ears, "Now, now. Nothing TOO urban I say!"
I liked what Nihal said on the show yesterday about Speech Debelle being a "Mercury Music Judge" kind of urban artist. I totally agree, and have been saying this forever. Not only on a Mercury Music Tip. But anything on a national scale. Anything TOO Kano or Gigs is too much. Its a shame. In the U.K, it's just not possible for an emcee to talk about their life over a beat and get recognition. For example, unless your talking these bars over an electro dance beat - where you're hardly even talking anything worth listening to, or a random Blur sample, OR let it be known in interviews how much you loved Sonic Youth as a child, it's not happening.
I could go on soooo much about the foolishness. But rant over for right now...
If such editorials catch on to an artist like Speech Debelle before I do? I tend to ignore it. And wait for me to catch the wave in my own way. But in this case, how I wish I had taken more interest earlier. But I blame you magazines and newspapers! So quick to to say the "next best thing" for any band who has high guitar straps.

The performance was a big deal. She's got me hooked to her stage presence and art-form. The band played real neat, and the song worked for the occassion.

This album is being spotify'd whilst typing this! Congrats once again....
